Trail Chera: Course, Elevation & Route Profile
Trail Chera runs through the Chera–Sot de Chera Natural and Geological Park, the Valencia region's first geopark, among limestone gorges, waterfalls and summits above 1,100 m. The long distance is a loop from Chera built around three long, steep climbs.
Course & Elevation
The loop stays between roughly 630 and 1,120 m. The first kilometres only roll gently; from km 3.5 the first real climb starts: about 2.4 km at an average of 11 % with very steep pitches. From km 8 a second block of about 2 km at around 10 % follows.
The hardest climb starts just after km 14: a little over 3 km at almost 11 % on average and more than 300 m of gain. After that only a short, steep ramp around km 19 remains, and most of the rest drops back to Chera.
Nearly half the course is steep uphill or downhill. The organiser states 1,623 m of ascent; our profile of the organiser's file measures about 1,190 m after smoothing.
Pacing Strategy
Take the first two climbs by breathing and power-hike the steepest pitches rather than forcing them. The climb from km 14 is the longest and arrives when the legs are already tired.
Save something for it, and stay focused on the long descents that follow: on wet limestone, sure footing matters more than speed.
Training plan for Trail Chera: 12-week build
The effort is long and varied: aerobic endurance plus repeated 2–3 km climbs at double-digit gradients.
Do long runs on hilly ground, place long climbs deliberately in the second half of the session and practise brisk power-hiking. Steep, technical descending matters just as much.
November can be cool and wet. Test shoes with good grip and your fuelling at slow speeds.

Climb categories follow the road-cycling convention and rate the terrain itself (length and gradient) regardless of sport: Cat. 4 marks the easiest rated climbs, Cat. 1 the hardest, and HC (hors catégorie, “beyond categorization”) is reserved for the most brutal ascents. Short climbs below the Cat. 4 threshold stay unrated.
