Connect YOUB to ChatGPT

Once YOUB is added as a custom MCP connector, ChatGPT reads your real sessions and, if you allow it, writes new ones into your plan. It takes about five minutes, and the only part that trips people up is where the setting hides.

Before you start

  • A paid ChatGPT web plan. Custom connectors live behind developer mode, and the free plan does not have it.
  • A browser. Adding a connector happens on chatgpt.com, not in the mobile app.
  • The YOUB app, set up, with your data sources connected. You confirm the connection there, and there is nothing to read until your sessions are arriving.

Setup, step by step

    Turn on developer mode

    Settings → Security and login → Developer mode. ChatGPT marks the toggle as elevated risk; that risk is exactly the write access you grant, or withhold, two steps down.

    Add https://mcp.youb.app as a connector

    Settings → Plugins, called Connectors in some accounts, then the + button, and paste the URL. There is no API key and no token to enter anywhere: the URL is the whole configuration.

    Confirm the connection in the YOUB app

    ChatGPT sends you through OAuth in the browser and a QR code appears. Scan it with your phone, check in the YOUB app what is being asked for — reading only, or writing as well — and confirm with the six-digit code. Phone not at hand? An emailed code works too.

    Switch the tools on in a chat

    A connector is added once, then enabled per conversation. Open the tools menu in your chat and pick YOUB. If a new conversation shows no YOUB tools, this is the step that is missing.

There is no developer mode in my settings
It comes with the paid web plans. On the free plan, and in the mobile apps, the toggle is not there — sign in on chatgpt.com with a paid plan.
ChatGPT warns about an unverified connector
It shows that warning for every custom MCP server it has not reviewed. What it warns about is real, and it is precisely the access you decide on in the YOUB app: grant reading only, and nothing in your plan can be changed.
I cannot add the server in the mobile app
Adding a custom connector is a web flow. Do that step once in a browser on chatgpt.com; it belongs to your account from then on.
