Course & Elevation

The 17 kilometres are an out-and-back on the closed Panzerstraße. The profile contains 80 metres of ascent and the same amount of descent, spread over a predominantly flat course. With no crossing traffic and a clear turn, you can focus completely on line, power and time-trial execution.

The forest road on the Garlstedt military training area is the Bremer Stern’s unusual venue. Start and finish are at Panzerstraße in Schwanewede, with riders launching from a Bundeswehr ramp. Around 150 riders from across Germany took part in the 2025 editions, giving the event a serious field despite its rural location.

The return is technically familiar but physically decisive. It reveals whether the outward leg was controlled enough to preserve the aero position and pressure all the way back to the ramp.

Pacing Strategy

Ride the outward leg at high but controlled threshold effort. The 60.9 percent flat share invites pressure, but the small rises and descents should require only minimal power changes. The turn is not a place for a full reset, but the transition into the second half.

The return from the 8.5-kilometre turn decides the race. Hold your position and pace the effort so you can still lift slightly in the closing kilometres. The road is closed, so there are no junctions or traffic to explain a broken rhythm.

The trap is an over-aggressive launch from the ramp. The flat outward leg makes high pressure feel easy, but every excess minute makes the return through the forest more expensive.
