OMNi-BiOTiC Frauenlauf - Rosenheim: Course, Route Profile & Map

The OMNi-BiOTiC Frauenlauf in Rosenheim is a women-only race in the Mangfallpark, and the 5 km is exactly one lap of it. The course stays flat along the water, switches banks twice over a bridge, and for many starters it is their first race of any kind. Preparing for it is mostly about covering the distance calmly and evenly.

Course & Elevation

The lap starts in the Mangfallpark and follows the Mangfall upstream. After a good two kilometres the course crosses the river on the Hochfellnstraße bridge and comes back down the opposite bank, before a footbridge by the open-air pool closes the circle. It is a clean loop with no turnaround point: you run forwards the whole way and finish where you started.

Nothing about the course is hard. Three quarters of the lap is flat, there are no climbs in any real sense, and the twenty-odd metres of elevation are spread out as a barely perceptible tilt. The surface is mostly asphalt park path, with short stretches of gravel and compacted ground in between.

The character comes from the setting and the field. The Mangfallpark is a riverside town park, the course passes the Rosenheim open-air pool and stays within sight of the water almost throughout. The start is at 3 p.m. on a September Saturday, in a field where finishing time is explicitly not the point. 2026 is the first edition.

Pacing Strategy

On a lap this flat your pace has to come from rhythm rather than from the terrain. Split the 5 km into a calm first half and a slightly quicker second: the outbound leg runs upstream and gains about ten metres, which you barely register as a climb but do feel in your legs. The way back runs with the river and comes noticeably easier.

The race is decided in the first kilometre. A mass start on flat ground tempts you into going out well above your intended pace, and over 5 km there is no way back from that. Run the opening minutes deliberately slowly enough that you could still hold a conversation.

The second trap is the time of day. A 3 p.m. start falls in the warmest part of a September afternoon, and the riverside paths offer no continuous shade. Drink well beforehand, and in warm conditions build in a little more reserve from the outset.

Training plan for OMNi-BiOTiC Frauenlauf - Rosenheim: 12-week build

For a typical participant the effort lasts somewhere between 25 and 45 minutes. It is a continuous, even aerobic load with no spikes: no climbs, no technical sections, no change of terrain to break your rhythm. Your body does the same thing from start to finish here.

That is exactly what the preparation should look like. If you are starting out, build the distance with a mix of walking and running, extending the running intervals week by week until 5 km in one go is comfortable. The organiser publishes a twelve-week beginner plan that follows precisely this progression. Three sessions a week with a rest day in between are enough.

The decisive ability is pace control, not top-end speed. Practise going out deliberately slowly and holding one pace all the way through, rather than starting fast and fading. One or two runs over the full distance in the final weeks will give you the feel for it.

Two conditions matter. An afternoon start in September means you should do at least some sessions in the warmth rather than only on cool mornings. And continuous flat asphalt loads the same structures over and over, so decent shoes and some core and calf strengthening are worth the time.
